Something about us

Gary Heathwood, owner and environmental lighting consultant, is an electrician with 40 years experience .

 Gary – For the last 2 years I have done extensive research on LEDs.  Samples of products from different companies overseas have been purchased, tested and the best have been given to the Australian Government relevant departments for testing and safety approvals.

During the last 40 years I also spent 8 years operating a country supermarket. The store was completely changed including the addition of an instore butcher shop.  We were the first store of our kind to have a 3rd class butcher shop in a supermarket in Queensland.  During this time the Australian Army chose us from all the surrounding towns with their multitude of food suppliers, to supply them for their staging area on 2 occasions over 6 years (held every 3 years).  This was a huge undertaking (and the reason we put the butcher shop in), and we conducted this venture with honesty and integrity.  Hard work, inovation, excellent work ethics have always been the standard we (wife, sons and daughter and I) live by.

Carroll has worked as an executive secretary  in the Australian Public Service as well as office work  for a TV station, ASEA Electric, Carrigans, Myer Credit Interviewer and sales, etc and she established a fashion boutique  years ago, which was hugely successful. 

We could both add numberous job descriptions such as CEO, Marketing Manager, etc etc, as we have both had extensive experience covering wide fields and been in charge of  large numbers of staff.  However we are happy to just add ‘General Manager’ for Gary as titles don’t mean much to us.

Kellie Green is one of 3 results of our BEST accomplishments in our life.  Of our three children, Kellie being the 3rd and last, she has 2 wonderful children of her own.  Kellie has been working and studying in the natural health field for years and is self taught in the internet business.  Building websites, helping many top entrepeneurs in IT, Natural Health, and green products has taken up most of Kellie’s spare time while raising her 5 and 7 year old boys.  Multi million dollar companies in IT and Worldwide Natural Health (aromatherapy, flower essences etc) consult Kellie and she does as much work for them as she can fit in. 

Gary, Carroll and Kellie have started LED Lights Australia with passion and commitment.  We are not a business backed by overseas companies, but we know beyond any doubt that we have the ability to supply Australians with quality products  and will work with due care, fairness and integrity.

Even though the price for LED light bulbs are higher than incandescent lamps, people are becoming aware of the huge power savings and long life benefits of solid-state LED lights.

nb: Changing to LED lighting in a ‘test’ classroom in Waco US, showed a definite improvement in student behaviour and performance.  They found the lights emit a more natural, daylight glow and do not flicker as typical incandescent bulbs do.  Also there is no longer buzz or ultraviolet rays.  The lights emit less than 90 percent of the heat than the old lights and the LED bulbs fit into the existing outlets.

 What an improvement these lights are making for the children (and teachers) as well as saving huge amounts of power and therefore, money. Now hopefully the parents at home will continue and replace their lights and have not just happier, healthier children, but the whole family will have a less stressful, more ambient atmosphere in their home. Remembering they will also have far less to pay when the power bill comes in.

A local coffee shop owner who purchased LED lighting from another supplier,  has been disappointed with the lights. However, the LEDs were incorrect for the job. Our downlights will now be used instead and the incorrect lighting will be put into bedrooms and the garden.  A leading wholesaler/retailer in Australia has purchased these same downlights from us and a government employee has said they are the best of the best that have been tested. 

Information, motivation, and behavioural change are strategies we need to bring about reducing our carbon footprint and to save money through optimising the use of energy.

There is an appetite for new technologies and a real feeling and knowing amongst Australians as well as the rest of the world, to act and help save the world.
