In Abu Dhabi, the Department of Municipal Affairs plans to promote the use of LED lights in streets and buildings across the emirate.A senior official at the DMA stall in the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) said the LED lights will minimise energy consumption by 30 to 40 per cent and because they are eco-friendly, will minimise the heat generated.

By using solar light, underground cabling and ducting becomes obsolete and means much quicker installation than traditional lights and huge savings. The Solar One broad spectrum LED lighting is a significant departure from the intense, yellow highpressure sodium lights, offering a more attractive, broad, white light for enhanced visual comfort using a fraction of the energy.

Lucky visitors at the Selangor 2010 Chap Goh Meh Festival which was held at i-City, Shah Alam, saw and photographed the amazing cultural performances, fireworks and LED light showcase. The unique LED showcase featured a colourful forest, lanterns, peacocks, winged horses, and lots more.

The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort, Florida, has made the effort to become a greener, more energy efficient hotel. It has installed LED lighting. The lobbies and hallways are lit 24/7.The LED lighting now installed in the hotel lobby and hallways are significantly reducing their electricity bill and saving on maintenance costs and also providing better quality lighting for their guests.Savings of more than half a million dollars are predicted by the fourth year of installation.

LED lighting on the battlefield will be beneficial in numerous ways.Think of the huge fuel costs of supporting the old lighting systems to the advantages of LED lighting. The possible 100,00 hour life of each and virtually no requirement for logistical support and the superior energy efficiency.

On a lighter note , how about having a ceiling completely covered in LEDs.With a few sensors and a light wand you could draw a pattern for a party or use the wand to turn on more lights above you to read by.Create the ambience that fits your needs.

Todays buyers favour efficiency over fancy!

Hey what! There is a bit of fancy in the above info.

LEDs brightness and adjustable VIS colours help interior light meet the requirements of any desired atmosphere or colour. In the developing designer market, traditional light sources cannot match the advantages of LEDs.

LEDs have a compact body and are designed to fit in with the organic integration of a building so as to achieve the effect of seeing light – not – see light.

Tapei 101 was the tallest building in the world before the completion of the Burj Khalifa Bin Zayed in Dubai. However, Tapei 101 is inspiring as the tallest green building in the world because of using energy saving light bulbs.

The Burj Khalifa Bin Zayed, which is soon to be renamed, will surely compete and change to eco friendly lighting solutions to be the tallest, best, greenest building in the world.

LED lights covers a wealth of opportunity to control and manipulate colour. They completely blend in with the environment.Add LEDs into cove ceilings to simulate sunrise and sunset or shortly in the future, be able to put LED pressure sensors under carpets to set off the bulbs when someone walks into the room.

Growing vegetables hydroponically in tiers of shelves under energy saving LED lighting consumes little power and can be powered with solar cells.

It was reported in the New York Times that the US Governments Department of Energy announced in January it had awarded in excess of $37 million in stimulas funds for research and development projects that will help advance the market for LEDs. The funding will significantly cut energy use, reduce their carbon footprint and save money. The Department of Energy estimates that LEDs could shrink electricity use for lighting by a third nationally by 2030.According the US Department of Energy the savings will be noticeable and the cost of an LED bulb will pay for itself in about a year.

Researchers at the University of Pittsburg are reported to state that the city could save millions of dollars by switching to LED lights by replacing the 40,000 street lights with LEDs.They expect to see savings of around $2 million annually.

Cree Inc reported it’s quarterly net income was $33.8 million, compared with $10.7 million a year ago.During the quarter, Wal-Mart chose Cree for an initial deployment of its LED light bulbs in approximately 650 of its stores.

LED bulbs can be recycled because there are no harsh chemicals and they are made of plastic and metal.

The European Union has already banned incandescent light bulbs and as of 2012, the traditional lights will no longer be available on store shelves in the US.

Alaska will convert its 343 streetlamps to LEDs.High quality LEDs have a 50,000 hour rated lifespan and are resistant to thermal and vibrational shocks and produce true colour, programmable illumination.

A highlight of the final grand prix held at night in Abu Dhabi was the everchanging light emitting diode (LED) facade covering the hotel overlooking the new track.

As traditional powerhouses such as coal and steel die out, LED technology is one of the new and emerging industries.

Light emitting wallpaper with a natural, sunlight type of lighting with a huge colour range is something to look forward to.

Lighting customers are quickly learning that LED lighting provides real benefits in reducing operating costs.

Some people are still asking, ‘What is an LED?.Led stands for light-emitting diode.A diode is a simple semi-conductor device typically made from gallium, arsenic and phosphorus, which allows the movement of electrons to conduct an electric current, giving off an energy released in the form of a light source (photons). The incandescent bulb produces light from a filament that glows, which produces heat and in turn, creates light.LED lighting is more efficient, durable, versatile and longer lasting than incandescent and fluorescent lighting.LEDs emit light in a specific direction whereas an incandescent or fluorescent bulb emits lights and heat in all directions, therefore LED lighting uses both light and energy more efficiently.

LED – approximately 50,000 hours of lamplife verses a regular light bulb – 2,000 hours of lamplife.

The cost of electricity is expected to increase in some markets by 30% this year.

LED lighting is an energy-efficient light source saving up to 90% of energy and is versatile and beautiful.

LED sales are increasing, set to nearly double by 2013.
Cree is leading the LED lighting revolution and setting the stage to make the incandescent light bulb obsolete.
LED lamps will play a major part in energy-efficient communications. They will double as a data network.
With the new research, traffic lights for example could transmit a message to onboard computers of approaching vehicles. This message might for example cause the driver to use the brakes. It might be possible to save lives because of the current and future technology of LED lighting.
At the end of 2009 LED Technologies was purchased for $26 million. The technology and patents related to LCDs (liquid crystal displays) and optoelectronics.
LED backlighting can be used to build ultra-thin LCD screens with better image quality, which could improve the displays of games, movies etc.A large number of us already have this latest technology in our homes in early 2010.
New solid-state showcase fixtures utilizing LEDs light the collection of crown jewels in Denmark, enabling an 80% energy saving. There is now a dramatic reduction in incandescent generated heat which threatened to damage the royal treasures.
At the celebrations on New Years Eve, those watching the events in Times Square saw a change to the famous New Year ball.It is now all LED.The ball itself has been lit with LEDs since 2007, while the lamps that light the four digits for the new year have had the old incandescent and halogen bulbs replaced by using 545 ambient LED long-neck LED reflector lamps and placing them inside the four numerals for 2010 and on.Each of the 32,000 LED lamps in the ball can be individually controlled to create thousands of different effects and patterns. The red, green and blue LEDs in the ball can also be programmed to create up to literally millions of different colours.
Even though the prices for LED light bulbs are higher than traditional incandescent lamps, people are becoming aware of the huge power savings and long life benefits of solid-state LED lights.
There is a growing appetite for new technologies.
This is only a rumour, but apparently Santa is excited to now have LED lighting in the front of his sleigh. The bulbs are red and the LEDs increase visibility for Santa with their super brightness.
Australians and the UK have set bans on incandescent light bulbs and the US has an incandescent ban set to take effect in 2013.
LED is a whole new way to see the light.
.

With energy prices climbing it is more important than ever that we
support products and technology which conserve energy.

Numerous cities in the USA are changing to LEDs.
Ellwood City Borough in Beaver and Lawrence
counties started by replacing 135 traffic lights with
energy-efficient LED lights, planning to save the
municipality and taxpayers more than $14,000 for
the year.In Austin Texas in early 2007, the City Council
created an Energy Efficient Taskforce. They replaced
90% of all city buildings with efficient lighting.

Incandescent light bulbs in traffic lights were replaced
with Light Emitting Diodes, reducing energy consumption
by 90%.
In October 2008 an announcement by the
New York State Energy Research and Development
Department encouraged people to upgrade their old
christmas lighting to LEDs stating that LED lighting
strands last up to 11 seasons, rarely burn out and will
save you up to $100 per year on your energy bill.
Boston’s Prudential Tower is on the important list of
landmark skyscrapers that use LED lighting fixtures
to dynamically transform their facades.High performance
LED spotlights have been installed on the buildings’s
crown, saturating the local landmark with vivid colour
and colour changing effects. The colour scheme can be
changed to support local events, celebrate holidays,
reflect the brand colours of individual organizations etc.

The UN Climate Conferance in Copenhagen’s Bella
Center where the main conferance sessions took
place in December 2009,had new energy-efficient,
solar powered LED lighting installed.By changing
the outdoor lighting and using LED luminaires on
the new lamp posts the energy savings of up to 67%
will reduce the urban carbon footprint.
In the Japanese city of Yokohama the Marine Tower
is looking bright
with LED lights adding glamour to the city at night.
Beautiful landscape lighting plays an important role
in urban development.LED lighting is a safe method
of delivering energy to light up the cities and landmarks
to add joy to city life. Many supermarkets throughout
the country are embracing the green building movement
to reduce hefty utility costs.
Developers are very conscious of changing to
environmentally-sustainable projects.They are
using LED lights which reduce energy consumption
by at least 67% .

Supermarkets have also installed LED lights in freezer
cases. There are no starting problems in cold
environments because LEDs are ‘instant on’ with
no warm up time needed as seen in conventional
CFL lighting.

Importantly LED lights do not contain environmentally
hazardous metals such as mercury or sodium and
do not emit potentially harmful ultraviolet radiation
or infrared radiation like halogen lamps.
Maintenance costs over the long life of around 30,000
hours will be nearly non-existant.

The advantages of LED lighting adding to the lowering
of world’s carbon footprint cannot be underestimated.
