Who would have thought it! Infusing LED lighting into tweezers. Please, I want some! Changing to LED lighting in a ‘test’ classroom in Waco US, showed a definite improvement in student behaviour and performance. They found the lights emit a more natural, daylight glow and do not flicker as typical incandescent bulbs do. Also there is no longer buzz or ultraviolet rays. The lights emit less than 90 percent of the heat of the old lights and the LED bulbs fit into the existing outlets. What an improvement these lights are making for the children (and teachers) as well as saving huge amounts of power and therefore, money. Now hopefully the parents at home will continue and replace their lights and have not just happier, healthier children, but the whole family will have a less stressful, more ambient atmosphere in their home. Remembering they will also have far less to pay when the power bill comes in. Incandescents are energy hogs. Less than 10% of the energy they consume becomes visible light. The remainder is given off as heat. And CFLs? Well, mercury, time to warm up – it seemed a good idea at the time! LEDs are here now. They are highly efficient and only consume very few watts of power. Light is produced the instant they are turned on. Their life expectancy is around 50000 hours and there is no mercury or any other toxic elements in an LED bulb. LEDs now and in the future are a must for commercial and residential lighting. ? ?
